OH NOES – THE INTERNETS ARE BROKEN! - 22:42, December 10, 2008
What a palaver, the internet went down at The Crooked House a few hours ago, and also at Phil’s place. We’re both with Acanac and the accounts are due to expire in a few days – When they went down I suspected it was due to Acanac disconnecting us a few days earlier than the official date but it seems Cogent are experiencing routing issues in Toronto which is affecting ISPs, not to mention BME et al..
Anyway, in a panic I called AEI Internet which is the provider I’m moving over to and asked them about the status of the account (we signed up a couple of days ago). Even though we’ve had a dry loop with Bell for a year, AEI said that Bell have refused to continue the dry loop contract because they can’t confirm whether our place is a house or an apartment (which I went over with them 365 days ago – IT’S A HOUSE!!), so I’m stealing wireless from my neighbour at the moment and waiting to hear back from AEI/Acanac.
Rubbish!
Oh, I re-complained to Rogers this morning about the problems I had with them three months ago, and they finally crumbled and have sent out a replacement Nokia N95 (for a small fee – which I’ll probably refuse to pay but we’ll see), so if anyone wants a Blackberry 8220 Flip (with charger and 1GB MicroSD card plus MicroSD adapter) for $50 let me know.. It’s actually a really nice phone, I just can’t get used to this new-fangled way of typing.
