So I’ve just setup the desktop computer my landlady lent me!

I’ve connected the desktop to my laptop using the ethernet ports, via a wireless router (with SSID broadcast and all wireless functions disabled) that has the default gateway IP and subnet mask changed so they don’t conflict with the wireless router downstairs (that’s connected to the dry loop line provided by Bell and running with Acanac), setup a home network on my laptop and shared the wireless connection on that (which connects to the DSL modem via the wireless router downstairs, obviously) with the desktop. Et voila.

Simple as that. I’m buying a PCI wireless card for it in a few days either way, but yay!
