I understand the reasoning, the good intentions, the fact that people seem to need a rally like this so they feel like they're doing something and bringing issues into the spotlight, but really..

An hour? It's purely symbolic, not at all practical in the longterm (anyone who remembers the trouble during the World Cup in England when people collectively rose from their sofa's and made a pot of tea at exactly the moment the first half finished). Once the hour's over I imagine the majority of people that took part will sit back in their chairs, microwave a beer, bake some ice cream and marvel at how much they care.

I can't count the amount of times I've walked around the house turning off lights, putting my laptop into power saving mode, drying my clothes at the foot of my bed rather than using the drier.

I feel a little silly ranting about this, but half measures (whatever the cause) have always bothered me. It really should be everything or nothing when it comes to something people believe in. This is not the way to show the people 'in power' that we care, it's been proven over and over again that this is something we need to sort out, it's obvious!.

An hour here and there is not going to make any impact at all when we've been messing things up for bazillions of hours.

"More of the same"..
